Independent pharmacies have teamed up under a new scheme called ‘All About Health’ to empower people to take charge of their health by using the free walk-in healthcare advice and services on offer from their local pharmacist.

So often people think that pharmacies are just a place to collect their prescription or do not realise they can benefit from screening services that they might normally get from their GP. All About Health aims to change this by raising awareness of independent pharmacies across the UK as a place to walk in and receive health and lifestyle advice. From weight management and stopping smoking, to screening services for diabetes, allergy, cholesterol and blood pressure monitoring pharmacy can provide support often outside of conventional working hours making it an ideal choice in today’s busy workplace.

www.allabouthealth.org.uk also supports the initiative through the opportunity to take a free online Healthcheck and provides sources of additional advice to support the needs of visitors to the site. The ‘pharmacy finder’ facility can then be used to help people take action on any health recommendations offering direction to the nearest All About Health pharmacy for further advice or screenings from an expert.
